Microdot +
The microdot®+ is an advanced blood glocose level monitor, built at state-of-the-art facilities in England and Germany by teams who have many years of experience in the supply of blood glucose test systems. microdot®+ has significant advantages over its competitors, both technically and economically.
Maltose Interference on Glucose
Some glucose test systems using a glucose dehydrogenase dependent on the co-enzyme pyrroloquinone (GDH-PQQ) show a high degree of cross reactivity with maltose. Hence patients who are hypoglycaemic have been reported to test as hyperglycaemic, with potentially life threatening consequences.
The microdot®+ System uses a different enzyme from the one discussed above – a NAD dependent glucose dehydrogenase (GHD-NAD) which shows no significant cross reactivity with maltose. Laboratory tests with maltose and Octagam have confirmed this.
The Virtus IT CEP system reads data captured by the the microdot monitor and stores this for trend analysis and to generate user defined alerts when specific user defined thresholds are reached. These thresholds can be based exclusively on the data supplied (or not supplied in given time windows) by the microdot or can be based on a combination of data from several sources including microdot (data such as: weight, BMI values, blood pressure monitoring, protein levels, insulin taken, etc).
