Spokes that provide data about fixed and mobile devices and networks

How It Works

Automatos provides a number of software agents, each designed for a specific type of device (e.g. servers, laptops) and for a particular type of data retrieval. These agents can be remotely deployed across an organisation's IT assets very quickly - anything from a day for small organisations to a month for a global enterprise.

Automatos agents regularly send data about the devices that they are monitoring and the aplications that run on these to a central Automatos server for processing.

The Automatos server acts as the Spoke for the Virtus CEP when the systems are integrated.

The picture below depicts how Automatos monitoring works at a very high level.

Technical Information About Automatos Agents

Automatos can be delivered as a Software as a Service (SaaS) solution or
installed on the internal infrastructure.

It is rapidly deployed and easy to manage through one user interface that can be securely accessed from any location.

In order to gather the required information, Automatos deploys software Agents onto the devices to be monitored.

The Automatos Agents:

  • have a non-intrusive and light footprint
  • disk Space Requirement : Approximately 4 Mb
  • have low Memory usage - 4 Mb to 10 Mb of RAM
  • have low CPU utilisation - Less than 1%
  • have low network saturation:
    • Desktop - 20 to 25 Kb / day
    • Server - between 3 and 4 Kb / min
  • do not collect personal data processed by applications, databases or users
  • only performance counters and OS native inventory information is collected
  • do not accept inbound connections.
