Case Studies

1. Angeloni

Angeloni is one of the largest supermarket chains in Southern Brazil. It has 21 supermarkets, 21 drugstores, a distribution centre, four gas stations, and is expanding.

It won “Supermarket of the Year” nine times (Santa Catarina State Supermarket Association), and has been labelled “Top of Mind”, the first brand recalled by the State of Santa Catarina’s consumers in the supermarket segment, 15 times.

Angeloni employs around 7,000 employees, has over 2m customers.

Business Need

Angeloni realised in order to improve IT support it needed to implement an IT service desk. Existing arrangements were adhoc and failed to deliver against Service Level Agreements. Requests were not consistently recorded so performance indicators could not be generated.

Solution

Automatos was deployed to solve these problems, enabling processes to be implemented which generated monitoring reports and performance indicators. Demonstrations were held with staff across multiple sites so that they could see the power of the solution for themselves.

Three key benefits gained from this were:

  • Definition of service levels and performance.
  • Structure and streamlining of IT processes and workflows.
  • A single point, IT service desk supported by the WEB module of the Automatos Service Management system, which allows end users to forward Incidents and Service Requests.

Automatos enables the generation of managerial reports and performance indicators which is a huge benefit and has enabled them to produce customised reports for:

  • Service indicators
  • Cause indicators
  • Team indicators

2. Carrefour

Carrefour is the world’s largest hypermarket chain. Since launching in France in 1957, the company has seen explosive growth worldwide. In 1989, it ventured into Taiwan, Brazil, and expanded fast, proliferating into many countries, with numerous new stores opening across the world.

Carrefour is recognised as a major international retailer. It has more than 500 stores, with a team of 70,000 collaborators.

Business Need

In 2007, Carrefour had a very important challenge: how to manage and develop their IT infrastructure to support plans for international growth and their overall competitive strategy. In addition, the chain had serious security problems with the potential leakage of confidential information.

Solution

Automatos provided a solution which enabled Carrefour to take complete control of its IT infrastructure. Carrefour’s infrastructure management, inventory, performance analysis and software distribution were all taken care of in a single unified monitoring system. This provided the company with detailed intelligence and control over its IT infrastructure, enabling IT management to see exactly what was happening in their stores across the globe, as well as providing a heightened level of security and invaluable insight tools.

Carrefour made use of the Automatos USB block facility, to keep control over the information accessed and removed by their suppliers.

Ultimately, Automatos has provided Carrefour with a level of IT monitoring and control which enables them to make better decisions and continue to grow.
